Bob Mortimer is a well-known face around here, and he just happens to be one half of the comedy duo, Vic and Bob.
Born and raised in Middlesborough, Bob left school with three A-Levels and went on to study law at the universities of Sussex and Leicester.
Originally working as a lawyer for Southwark Council, and then moving to a private practice, Mortimer fell upon his comedic career when he went to a pub. Yes, a pub.
Where have you seen Bob before?
and most importantly
He went to the Goldsmith's Tavern to see a new show by a comedian called Vic Reeves, and he was so impressed by the performance that he approached Reeves after the show, and the two began writing material for the next week's show together.
Their shows became very successful in South London and eventually outgrew Goldsmith's Tavern, and began their television debut on the One Hour with Jonathan Ross - so everyone could finally see them
Later, the duo made their first television show together, Vic Reeves Big Night Out. Bob took a 10-week break from his legal job to film the series but never returned - because you know, comedy can pay off.
In 2003, Mortimer and Reeves were listed in the Observer as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy. In a 2005 poll to find the Comedians' Comedian, the duo were voted the 9th greatest comedy act of all time by fellow comedians and comedy insiders.
When Bob isn't performing, you can find him at home with his wife Lisa and their two sons. Or on Taskmaster, which is much more interesting and doesn't involve stalking. Much better.
