"Most politicians promise you the moon on a stick. I'll do better than that, I'll give you a British moon on a British stick" - The Pub Landlord
As the polls closed at 10pm up and down the country on May 7 2015 and we patiently awaited for the first results to roll in, Dave offered an alternative perspective on the general election, taking a close look at the campaign of The Pub Landlord Al Murray as he up against UKIP's Nigel Farage for the hotly contested seat of South Thanet.
The Kent constituency has been one of the most talked-about seats of the general election with eleven candidates all-vying for victory.
The Landlord took on all the established parties as the sole candidate for the Free United Kingdom Party (FUKP) and Dave had exclusive fly-on-the-wall access to the Guv'nor's campaign.
The one-off 90-minute documentary special from award-winning filmmaker Amanda Blue (Prescott: The Class System and Me) gets up close and personal with The Pub Landlord as he meets local Thanet constituents, has run-ins with his political rivals, makes policies with his most trusted political advisor and endures the highs and lows of a rollercoaster campaign as he sought election to the House of Commons.
But what does FUKP stand for? Simply, common sense. The Pub Landlord, who announced his plans to run back in January, laid out a firm 13-point common sense action plan, featuring tongue-in-cheek policies such as revaluing the pound at £1.10, Greece to be bought and operated by Kent County Council and South Thanet to be made the new capital of the UK.
