Who's who in Parks and Recreation Series 6

It's almost exactly the same as Series 5. That's a lie - it's EXACTLY the same as Series 5.

Parks and Recreation Series 6

But if you haven't been following the antics of Leslie and the Pawnee massive then here's who that guy is and who's that girl talking over there and what does she do? Oh right, thanks.

LESLIE KNOPE Played by Amy Poehler

What's she about?

There's a fine line between being highly productive and being plain annoying but go-getter Leslie is endearing enough not to ruffle too many feathers as she marches towards her ultimate goal of being the first female US President.

What does she do?

She used to be Deputy in the Parks and Recreation department, now she's on the city council although she might well get recalled in this series.

In a nutshell

Tireless, ambitious, exhausting.

RON SWANSON Played by Nick Offerman

What's he about?

Ron is a man's man. He likes meat. He likes booze. He's about as sensitive as nuclear fallout and so completely deadpan who begin to wonder if the pan was ever alive in the first place. But there is a heart buried deep down there underneath it all.

What does he do?

Ron is the Parks and Rec director although his general aim is to do as little as possible, make his department as ineffective as possible and hire employees who will generally fail to carry out their duties.

In a nutshell

Intimidating moustache.

ANN PERKINS Played by Rashida Jones

What's she about?

Leslie's best friend in Pawnee, sensible Ann provides a much needed calming influence for Leslie although she does tend to get drawn into most of Leslie's crazy schemes anyway. She used to go out with Andy Dwyer but she wanted someone a little less rough around the edges. Now she dates Chris Traeger who's so smooth he could be used as a human ice rink.

What does she do?

Ann is a nurse but you'd never know it as she seems to spend most of her time at the Parks and Rec department. Guess she has very long lunch breaks.

In a nutshell

Sweet, smart, sexy.

ANDY DWYER Played by Chris Pratt

What's he about?

Loveable dimwit Andy used to date Ann but ended up meeting the love of his life in the unlikely shape of April Ludgate. He's not the sharpest tool in the box but he can be a bit of a tool, you have to give him that.

What does he do?

Generally bumbling through life surviving on the kindness of others, Andy got a job as a shoe-shiner at the Pawnee City Hall from Leslie and then became her political campaign assistant and then Ben gave him a job the Sweetum's charity foundation. But that's not what he does. Andy IS music. Andy is a rock star. Andy is a legendary singer-songwriter. It's just a matter of time.

In a nutshell

If the word 'clumsy' was to take human shape it would look like Andy.

APRIL LUDGATE Played by Aubrey Plaza

What's she about?

Cynical, apathetic, slightly sociopathic, April generally chooses whether to obey a direct order or not. Nonetheless she is highly creative when she puts her mind to it and fiercely loyal despite her loner persona.

What does she do?

April worked as an intern in the Parks and Rec department before becoming Ron's perfect assistant after displaying a knack for being efficient at inefficiency. Now married to Andy and working with Ben, April's cold, icy exterior is melting a bit. But just a bit.

In a nutshell

Default setting is 'sarcastic'.

BEN WYATT Played by Adam Scott

What's he about?

Slight of frame but big of heart, Ben looks like he shrank a bit in the wash but is always neatly turned out. At first Ben was rather serious and socially awkward but hooking up with a powerhouse personality in the shape of Leslie Knope soon brought him out of his shell.

What does he do?

A hard worker, Ben first arrived in Pawnee as an auditor but then took a permanent position as assistant city manager. When he and Leslie started a secret workplace relationship, he resigned to save her job and eventually ended up working for Sweetums.

In a nutshell

Numbers nerd with geek chic.

TOM HAVERFORD Played by Aziz Ansari

What's he about?

Leslie's subordinate, Tom Haverford, is irresistible to ladies, a slick salesman, an overachieving entrepreneur and a fashion icon... in his own mind. Brimming with unjustified self-confidence, the only time deluded Tom gets disheartened is when other people can't see how great his ideas are.

What does he do?

Tom's job in the Parks and Rec dept was always just a stopgap until one of his brilliant business ideas took off - although by Series 6, "Rent-a-Swag" (a shop dedicated to hiring his own high-end clothing to school boys) actually seems to be making a bit of money.

In a nutshell

It's all about the bling.

CHRIS TRAEGER Played by Rob Lowe

What's he about?

Chris is charged with so much positive energy he could power the National Grid if you plugged one of his fingers into it. At first the Pawnee residents found Chris's aggressively upbeat nature and obsession with healthy living a little off-putting until he got together with Ann Perkins and mellowed a little.

What does he do?

Chris originally arrived with Ben to audit City Hall but by Series 6 he's become Pawnee's acting city manager. His ultimate ambition is to become the first human being to live 150 years.

In a nutshell

Unrelentlessly optimistic.
