Mike Ross

Mike Ross

You'd think being a college dropout would prove a wee bit of a barrier to becoming a top lawyer. But Mike Ross also happens to be a law-obsessed genius with a photographic memory, who – despite beginning his interview with the words "I'm just trying to ditch the cops" – manages to bag himself a place at top law firm Pearson Hardman. Note: this interview technique is best avoided if you happen not to be a genius, or in a television show. Mike shouldn't get too complacent though, as the fact that he's not actually a qualified lawyer may well derail his career in season two…

Played by: Patrick J. Adams

Canadian actor Patrick J. Adams knows what it's like to toil away as a bit-part, jack-of-all-trades kind of guy. In the US equivalent of appearing as "Man on Trolley" in Casualty and "Exterminated Guy #4" in Doctor Who, he did the rounds in shows like Without a Trace, Ghost Whisperer and NCIS before getting his big break in Suits. And it turns out he's just as sweet-natured as his character Mike Ross – apparently, one of the best things about Suits was having his mum visit him on set, because "it meant a lot to her and it meant a lot to me". Aww.
